Florida Task Force Recommends CDTM

Katherine M. Bennett

Florida may soon join the 25 states that recognize collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM) agreements between pharmacists and physicians.

A task force composed of representatives from health profession organizations, manufacturers, and regulatory groups, including the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the state’s pharmacy board and medical association, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, and ASHP, has recommended that CDTM receive statutory authorization. The 15-member group heard testimony from practitioners, compared existing CDTM practices in other states, and reviewed supportive clinical literature. A bill is likely to be introduced during the current legislative session.
