1999 ASHP National Residency Preceptors Conference Highlights Innovations in Postgraduate Training

Innovations in postgraduate residency training programs will be the focus of the 1999 ASHP National Residency Preceptors Conference in San Diego, August 20-22. Designed to help pharmacists explore ways to enhance their residency training programs, the meeting's educational program includes sessions on strategies for leadership development, ways to obtain residency program funding, and methods to assess residents' professional competence. A pre-conference workshop on using the ASHP Residency Learning System model will also be offered.

Poster, pearls, and breakout sessions will provide conference attendees with a wealth of networking opportunities and a glimpse into the strategies used in the country's top residency programs. The conference offers 15 hours of continuing education and is open to both current and prospective residency program directors and preceptors, as well as deans, pharmacy directors, and others who are interested in learning innovations in postgraduate education. For registration information, please call ASHP at (301) 657-4383 or visit the ASHP Web site at
