ASHP congratulates the seven certified pharmacy technicians who received Innovations in Pharmaceutical Care awards from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) in December. The awards, presented during the week of ASHP's Midyear Clinical Meeting, recognize innovative pharmaceutical care programs devised by teams of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Awards for innovations in clinical practice were given to certified technicians Jay A. Hager, B.A., of Zive Disease State Management Co.; Bruce D. Eisenhauser and Deborah A. Celaya of Arizona's Hayden Veterans Affairs Medical Center; Shelly J. Brown and Dotty L. Wagner of Osco Pharmacy in Homewood, Ill.; and Wendy A. Rycek of Duke University Medical Center. Angela G. Weeks of North Mississippi Medical Center received an award for her role in devising a medication error tracking and reporting program.

PTCB and Baxter Healthcare Corp. gave each winning team a $1,000 cash award and a certificate. Teams of pharmacists and technicians in all practice settings are eligible for the awards. The next award application deadline is Sept. 1. Visit the PTCB Web site for more information.
