ASHP Brings Pharmacists' Perspectives to Technology Alliance

Kate Traynor

ASHP is bringing the pharmacy perspective to the National Alliance for Healthcare Technology, a coalition formed recently by the American Hospital Association. The alliance will work to standardize health care information systems to improve patient safety and streamline administrative functions.

"This is an extremely significant partnership for ASHP," said Henri R. Manasse, Ph.D., Sc.D., ASHP executive vice president and CEO. "It provides an important forum to share our members' perspectives and concerns with other stakeholders, as well as shape innovative solutions."

During the group's launch meeting on June 25, ASHP Immediate Past President Steven L. Sheaffer, Pharm.D., FASHP, introduced the panel that discussed the value of having bar codes on drug products and the need for standardization.
