ASHP Praises Sponsors of Provider Status Bill
Legislation that will recognize pharmacists as Medicare Part B providers will help address gaps in the health care system, ASHP told the bill’s sponsors in a letter last week.
The Society applauded Reps. Brett Guthrie, Todd Young, and G.K. Butterfield for their sponsorship of H.R. 4190, legislation that will amend the Social Security Act to recognize pharmacists as providers under Medicare Part B. The bill would enable pharmacists to provide patient care services to Medicare beneficiaries in medically underserved areas.
ASHP, as part of the Patient Access to Pharmacists’ Care Coalition, was instrumental in shaping the legislation and is taking an active role to build support for the bill in Congress.
