ASHP Members Launch Provider Status Petition Effort

ASHP members Steve Soman and Sandra Leal have started petitions in support of H. R. 4190, bipartisan legislation that would recognize pharmacists as providers under Medicare Part B.

Soman’s petition is posted on the White House “We the People” site. The petition must receive 100,000 signatures by April 12, 2014, to trigger an official review and response from the Obama administration. Leal’s petition on Change.org urges members of the House of Representatives to sign on as cosponsors of the bill.

ASHP members are encouraged to support these efforts by signing the petitions and sharing them with family and friends. Members should also sign up for the Society’s Provider Status Team, which will serve as a hub for grassroots efforts to build support for the legislation.

ASHP, as part of the Patient Access to Pharmacists’ Care Coalition, was instrumental in shaping H.R. 4190.
