ASHP Pharmacy Practice Sections Election Results

ASHP members have selected the following individuals to serve on the Executive Committees of ASHP’s Pharmacy Practice Sections.

The terms for the Section Chairs-elect will begin immediately; the two-year terms for Directors-at-Large will begin in June 2020.

The new officers are as follows:


Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners

Chair-elect: Jessica W. Skelley, Pharm.D., BCACP

Director-at-Large-elect: Jamie Cavanaugh, Pharm.D., CPP

Jessica W. Skelley, Pharm.D., BCACP, is an Associate Professor at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy in Birmingham, Ala. She has served as Director-at-Large of the Section, Chair and Vice-Chair of the Section Advisory Group (SAG) on Compensation and Practice Sustainability, and as an alternate state delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates.

Jamie Cavanaugh, Pharm.D., CPP, is an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She is a Past Chair of the SAG on Compensation and Practice Sustainability and is a frequent presenter at ASHP meetings.


Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists

Chair-elect: Joel C. Marrs, Pharm.D., ASH-CHC, BCACP, BCCP, BCPS (AQ-Cardiology) CLS,
FAHA, FASHP, FCCP, FNLA

Director-at-Large-elect: Karen Berger, Pharm.D., BCCCP, BCPS, FCCM

Joel C. Marrs, Pharm.D., ASH-CHC, BCACP, BCCP, BCPS (AQ-Cardiology) CLS, FAHA, FASHP, FCCP, FNLA, is an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Aurora. He has served as a Colorado delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates, a member of the Council on Therapeutics, and a member and Vice-Chair of the Section’s Educational Steering Committee.

Karen Berger, Pharm.D., BCCCP, BCPS, is a Neurocritical Care Clinical Pharmacy Manager at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center. She has served as Vice-Chair of the Section’s Educational Steering Committee, a member of the New Practitioners Forum (NPF) Science and Research Advisory Group, the NPF Executive Committee, and the Council on Therapeutics.

Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners

Chair-elect: Gregory P. Burger, Pharm.D., CPPS, FASHP, NREMT

Director-at-Large-elect: Allison R. King, Pharm.D.

Gregory P. Burger, Pharm.D., CPPS, FASHP, NREMT, is the Medication Safety Coordinator at Stormont Vail Health in Topeka, Kan. He has served on the SAG on Medication Safety and as a Kansas delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates.

Allison R. King, Pharm.D., is an Investigational Drug Pharmacist and PGY1 Residency Coordinator at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the SAG on Pharmacy Practice Experiences, on the NPF Professional Practice Advisory Group, and as a PGY1 Residency Accreditation Practitioner Surveyor.


Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology

Chair-elect: Seth W. Hartman, Pharm.D., M.B.A.

Director-at-Large-elect: Carol L. White, Pharm.D., BCGP, BCPS, CPHIMS

Seth W. Hartman, Pharm.D., M.B.A., is the Director of Pharmacy Informatics at The University of Chicago Medicine. He has served as a Director-At-Large of the Section and as Chair of the Educational Steering Committee.

Carol L. White, Pharm.D., BCGP, BCPS, CPHIMS, is the Director of Pharmacy Services and Clinical Therapeutics at HCA Healthcare in Nashville, Tenn. She has served on several SAGs and recently completed a term as Chair of the Educational Steering Committee.


Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders

Chair-elect: Philip W. Brummond, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP

Director-at-Large-elect: Lindsey R. Kelley, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP

Philip W. Brummond, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP, is Chief Pharmacy Officer and Associate Dean of Health-System Pharmacy at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He has served as Director-at-Large of the Section, on the Council on Education and Workforce Development, SAGs on Leadership Development and Management of the Pharmacy Enterprise, and the Educational Steering Committee.

Lindsey R. Kelley, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP, is Director of Ambulatory and Oncology Pharmacy Services at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. She has served as Chair of the New Practitioners Forum, faculty for the ASHP Manager’s Boot Camp, and a member of the Council on Pharmacy Practice, the SAGs on Innovation Management and Leadership Development.


Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners

In the inaugural election of officers for the new ASHP Section of Specialty Pharmacy, members selected the following persons to serve as Chair, Chair-elect, Director-at-Large, and Directors-at-Large-elect.

Chair: JoAnn Stubbings, B.S.Pharm., M.H.C.A., R.Ph.

Chair-elect (2019-2020): Matthew H. Rim, Pharm.D., M.S.,

Director-at-Large: Tara N. Kelley, Pharm.D., M.M.H.C., CSP

Director-at-Large (2019-2021): Scott L. Canfield, Pharm.D., CSP

Director-at-Large-elect (2020-2022): Sheena F. Babin, Pharm.D., CSP

JoAnn Stubbings, B.S.Pharm., M.H.C.A., R.Ph. is Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services, in the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Department at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System in Chicago and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Pharmacy. She was appointed in 2018 as the Section’s inaugural Chair and has served on the Advisory Panel of the 2030 Practice Advancement Initiative and the Forecast Survey Panel.

Matthew H. Rim, Pharm.D., M.S., is the Manager of Pharmacy Ambulatory Clinical Care Center at University of Utah Health in Murray. He has served on the SAG on Business Development, authored several AJHP articles, and received a 2015 ASHP Best Practices Award.

Tara N. Kelley, Pharm.D., M.M.H.C., CSP, is Executive Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She served as one of the Section’s inaugural Directors-at-Large.

Scott L. Canfield, Pharm.D., CSP, is the Assistant Director for Clinical Program Development at Johns Hopkins Home Care Group. He is a preceptor for ASHP PGY1 and HSPA residency programs and a frequent speaker at specialty pharmacy conferences.

Sheena F. Babin, Pharm.D., CSP, is Manager of Pharmacy Clinical Services and Business Development at Ochsner Specialty Pharmacy, in New Orleans. She is a has served as a member of the Sections of Clinical Specialists and Scientists, Pharmacy Practice Managers, and Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners and a member of the ASHP Safe Insulin Project.
