WHAT IS THE ASHP SECTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATORS?
The new ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators strengthens and enhances ASHP’s efforts to lead in the preparation of the pharmacy workforce. The Section provides a unique and distinct membership home and leadership voice within ASHP for pharmacy school faculty, deans, and preceptors who are involved in the training of pharmacists.
WHAT BENEFITS WILL I RECEIVE WHEN I JOIN THE SECTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATORS?
- Continuing professional development resources and CE relevant to pharmacy educators;
- Timely and relevant news and information about pharmacy education and practice trends;
- Virtual and in-person networking opportunities;
- Online education and resources specific to education and skills development;
- AJHP and other publication content relevant to pharmacy practice and education;
- National meeting offerings, including the National Pharmacy Preceptor’s Conference - the only national event focused on pharmacy precepting
- Other benefits and services as recommended and developed by Section members.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE SECTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATORS?
- To advise on member benefits and services related to the educational and training needs of the pharmacy workforce;
- To recommend professional and interprofessional healthcare resources and policies related pharmacy education, in order to best promote safe, optimal and effective patient care;
- To inform ASHP of issues and best practices related to education and training;
- To develop engagement and leadership within ASHP.
WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE SECTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATORS?
- Five (5) volunteer members will be appointed to serve on the inaugural Executive Committee;
- Selection and appointment will ensure a diverse pool of knowledge and practice expertise;
- The Section will have an appointed Board Liaison and Staff Liaison;
- The initial meeting of the appointed leaders will be held virtually in the fall 2020;
- Regular meetings of the Section’s leadership will be held as with other ASHP Sections.

HOW CAN I ENROLL IN THE SECTION OF PHARMACY EDUCATORS?
To register for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators visit the Member Sections page in your ASHP. This page will reflect your current section selections.
Once there, select "Section of Pharmacy Educators" as your primary section or add it as one of your secondary sections of interest and click "Save."
WHAT ARE THE DUES FOR THE SECTION?
ASHP members may join as many Sections as desired at no added membership fee. The launch of the new Section is an added value for all ASHP members for free.
