PSF Advisory Groups

The ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum has six advisory groups that provide advice and guidance to the Forum regarding the unique needs of student members and how these needs might be addressed by the provision of resources and programs by ASHP.

Advancement of Pharmacy Practice Advisory Group

Purview

The Advancement of Pharmacy Practice Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding the development and support of programs designed to educate students regarding initiatives, such as PAI, to advance the practice of pharmacy.

Charges

  • Review PAI website and provide suggestions for enhancement
  • Serve on PAI Video Competition selection panel and conduct annual review of competition criteria
  • Effectively promote PAI week, including the development of new resources  for PAI 2030
  • Plan/execute a PAI webinar, including the facilitation of a discussion on ASHP Connect.

Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group

Purview 

The Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding professional development, career exploration opportunities, residency resources, and the growth and development of future pharmacy leaders.

Charges

  • Review, evaluate, and update existing residency preparation materials
  • Research and identify residency post-match strategies
  • Identify residency pearls and promote in existing communication channels
  • Promote workforce well-being and resilience resources specific to students

Community and eCommunications Advisory Group

Purview

The Community and eCommunications Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding the development and support of an actively engaged and connected community of student members.

Charges

  • Review and edit VOCAL RX recordings
  • Review and update the ASHP website and ASHP Connect scavenger hunt
  • Develop instructional tools for navigating and using ASHP Connect
  • Facilitate development of webinars on the professional uses of social media
  • Promote ASHP Mentor Match Program
  • Promote students and student activities on ASHP Social Media

Policy and Legislative Advocacy Advisory Group

Purview

The Policy and Legislative Advocacy Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding the growth and development of pharmacy students as effective advocates for the profession of health-system pharmacy.

Charges

  • Review and update “SSHP Policy Chair How To” document
  • Develop SSHP Policy Chair webinar schedule including identifying topics/message
  • Identify and promote advocacy/policy pearls in existing communication channels
  • Collaborate with ASHP Government Relations Division to promote ASHP advocacy initiatives
  • Explore opportunities to educate and engage students in the policy process

Student Society Development Advisory Group

Purview

The Student Society Development Advisory Group serves to advise ASHP regarding the facilitation of growth and development of Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy (SSHP).

Charges

  • Administer SSHP Co-Mentorship program
  • Review and select top Share and Reapply projects from the Student Society Showcase
  • Review Graduation cord program guide to provide enhancements
  • Develop SSHP Liaison quarterly webinars including identifying topics/message
  • Promote, review, and select SSHP spotlight submissions
  • Facilitate the development of SSHP Officer webinars, including identification of new positions to highlight and new topics

Advisory Groups Eligibility Requirements

The Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum will appoint fourteen students to each advisory group for a June-May term. Advisory groups communicate primarily via e-mail and conference call on a periodic basis. Attendance at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting is encouraged, but not required, as the advisory group members have the opportunity to meet face-to-face. Prior elected/appointed leadership is NOT required, however, appointments are competitive.

All nominees must be:

  • ASHP student member in good standing;
  • Enrolled in ACPE-accredited pharmacy school (e.g., rising P-1 through P-4 years);
  • Available to participate in all conference call meetings throughout the year.

Application Instructions

Step 1: Complete the electronic application form.

Step 2: Submit the following information to the Chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee using the electronic application:

  • CV and/or resume;
  • 250 Word Statement of interest
    Note: Individuals seeking appointment as the Advisory Group Chair will be prompted to address their meeting management skills.
