It is a bittersweet moment as I complete my time as a student pharmacist and enter the next phase of my career! It is truly an exciting time with all of our hard work beginning to pay off. For those of you who are still progressing through pharmacy school, you have officially tackled another year. Before you know it, you too will be embarking out into the real world!
For those of you preparing for next steps, I wish you the best of luck as you transition into the role of new practitioner. For those of you starting rotations next year, I encourage you to make the most of every experience. Entering each block with an open mind and an eager attitude will help make for a much more impactful experience. For students returning to the classroom, soak up as much knowledge as possible so as to best prepare yourself for the future!
Regardless of your academic year, I hope you embrace ASHP as your professional home, becoming an active and engaged member. I have loved being exposed to the inner workings of this organization and can honestly say that the support and dedication it offers its members is unlike any other. ASHP will continue to offer resources, leadership opportunities, and avenues for professional development and advancement in every aspect of your career!
To recap, the following are just a few PSF highlights from this past year: First, the Executive Committee had a very productive term in proposing policy on student pharmacist drug testing, treatment, and recovery to be voted on by the House of Delegates this summer. Our two national meetings, the Summer Meeting and the Midyear Clinical Meeting, were huge successes with highly attended and progressive student programming at both. I am so proud of our hard work and progress as the vast amount of resources offered to student members continues to expand!
It has been an absolute honor and pleasure serving as your Chair this year. I want to sincerely thank everyone who was integral in moving the PSF forward including advisory group members, council representatives, ad hoc committees, and all student chapter leaders across the nation. I would also like to extend a very special thank you to my Executive Committee members Laura Nice, Kayla Garzio, Spencer Bolton, and Judith Lovince as well as our director, Diana Dabdub, and board liaison, Stephen Eckel. Finally, I would like to thank each and every one of you for allowing me the opportunity to represent your voice within ASHP!
I wish y’all the best of luck in your future endeavors!
