ASHP expert, Michael Ganio, shares highlights from his recent testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee regarding drug shortages.

Michael GanioMichael Ganio, PharmD, MS, FASHP is senior director of pharmacy practice and quality at ASHP. Dr. Ganio joined the staff at ASHP in January 2018, after nearly two decades in hospital and health-system pharmacy practice. His responsibilities at ASHP span the practice of pharmacy and include drug shortages, pharmaceutical quality, sterile and non-sterile compounding, hazardous drug safety, and other practice-related topics.

Tom KrausTom Kraus, JD, (he/him) is vice president for government relations at ASHP. He is a graduate of University of Michigan (BS Biology), Georgetown University Law Center (Doctor of Law), and The Johns Hopkins University (MHS, Health Policy).

Tom previously served as the chief of staff and associate commissioner for legislation at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He was also a senior policy advisor to Sen. Ted Kennedy and Sen. Tom Harkin on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, where he served as deputy staff director for health.
