During the COVID-19 pandemic, rapid changes were needed to support fluctuating patient care needs, such as conversion of patient care units to COVID-19 care areas, transformation of level of care (e.g., general floors becoming intensive care units (ICUs)), and modifications to patient populations on units (e.g., pediatric units supporting adult patients). Listeners will learn how automated dispensing cabinets can inventory can be assessed efficiently when patient populations are rapidly changing and explain the importance of including a broad group of health-system stakeholders for planning operations during emergency situations.
