The lead author team for the recent 2022 ASHP Survey of Health-System Specialty Pharmacy Practice – Clinical Services discuss key findings from the survey, as well as challenges and opportunities for the future of health system specialty pharmacy practice.
SPEAKERS
Jessica Mourani, PharmD, serves as the Director of Clinical Outcomes at Trellis Rx, a divison of CPS. In this role she has had the opportunity to build outcomes framework required for a robust clinical outcomes research program. This program has produced over 25 projects illustrating the impact of HSSP on patient outcomes. She is an infectious diseases pharmacist by training, and previous to this role served as the infectious diseases central support pharmacist for Trellis Rx.
Amy Smith, PharmD, BCACP is an outpatient clinical pharmacy specialist in the Rheumatology Clinic at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2018 then completed a post graduate year one general pharmacy practice residency and her post graduate year two residency specializing in ambulatory care at Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee. Her PGY2 research project focused on pharmacist management in patients with diabetes and hypertension resistant to usual care.
Melissa Ortega, PharmD, MS, FASHP is vice president of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services at Tufts Medicine, where she leads the community/retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacy services, in-clinic and virtual care models, prior authorization services, payer contracting, and home infusion program. Melissa received her PharmD from Nova Southeastern University, and completed residency training at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. Melissa served as President of the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists in 2018 and Legislative Committee Chair in 2020.
Jennifer Donovan, PharmD, is Vice President of Clinical Services at Shields Health Solutions, Jen leads the clinical services, training, and outcomes teams. Overall, it is Jen’s role to ensure Shields provides best in class patient care that is evidence-based and adheres to external stakeholder requirements. Prior to joining Shields, Jen was the associate dean for the School of Pharmacy – Worcester/Manchester and professor of Pharmacy Practice at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Nicholas P. Gazda, PharmD, MS, BCPS, CSP is the Assistant Director of Specialty Pharmacy at Cone Health in Greensboro, North Carolina. He oversees URAC/ACHC accredited specialty pharmacy operations including the specialty pharmacy call center, mail-order program, and medication assistance program as well as the embedded ambulatory clinical pharmacists. Nick completed his BS and PharmD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy and a two-year PGY1/PGY2/MS Health-System Pharmacy Administration residency at Cone Health.
Autumn Zuckerman, PharmD, BCPS, AAHIVP, CSP is the director of health outcomes and research at Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy, and an affiliate professor at University of Tennessee College of Health Sciences, Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy, and Belmont University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Zuckerman received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy, then completed two years of residency training at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System VA, specializing in ambulatory care.
