Amey C. Hugg, B.S. Pharm., CPHIMS, FKSHP, is Director of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology. Her responsibilities include acting as ASHP staff liaison and secretary for the SOPIT Executive Committee and coordinating activities to accomplish Section goals and objectives. She acts as an ASHP information resource and provides informatics guidance to members in various healthcare environments.
Previously, Amey was Manager of Pharmacy Informatics at the University of Louisville Hospital and the Informatics Residency Program Director. She has been a leader in various pharmacy and informatics organizations throughout her career.
Amey, a fourth generation pharmacist, received her pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems.
Barry McClain, Pharm.D., M.S. ([email protected]), is Director of Pharmacy Information Systems at Advocate Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he leads a world-class team that supports the best use and design of pharmacy applications for 25 hospitals, 70+ retail pharmacies, and many clinics. He graduated with a Pharm.D. from The Ohio State University and a M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison while completing a combined PGY1/PGY2 health-system pharmacy administration residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
McClain serves as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 pharmacy informatics residency and is also a preceptor for the PGY1 practice and PGY2 administration residencies. McClain’s favorite professional contribution has been being Director-at-Large of the Section of Pharmacy Informatics and Technology. Otherwise, he has been involved at the regional pharmacy school, has presented numerous times at state/national conferences, and been involved with various state/national informatics groups over the years.
