A discussion with two front line leaders who will draw on their own experiences and knowledge as to how to effectively delegate as a leader. This podcast will cover three different scenarios a leader will encounter: delegating to a direct report, delegating to a boss or delegating up, and delegating to peers.

SPEAKERS

Christine McLellanChristine McLellan, Pharm.D., MHA, BCPS, DPLA, is the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator and PGY1 Residency Program Director at Emerson Hospital in Concord Massachusetts. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island. She is a graduate of the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Academy, and went on to further her education by completing her Masters in Healthcare Administration from Simmons University. Dr. McLellan’s areas of interest include pharmacy practice management, medication safety, and quality improvement. She has been an active member of MSHP and ASHP throughout her career.

Jevon OliverJevon Oliver, Pharm.D., M.S., is currently the Manager of Perioperative Pharmacy Services at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He completed his formal PGY1/PGY2/MS Health System Pharmacy Administration residency at University of Wisconsin (UW) Health in Madison, WI in 2018. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Oklahoma City University in 2012 and Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2016. His professional interests include leadership development, diversity and inclusion, inpatient operations, pharmacy automation, and advancement of pharmacy practice.

Melissa OrtegaMelissa Ortega, Pharm.D., M.S, Tufts Medical Center and Tufts Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts Education: Doctor of Pharmacy at Nova Southeastern University, 2010; ASHP Accredited PGY-1 & PGY-2 Residency Program Pharmacy Practice & Health-System Pharmacy Administration, University of Wisconsin Hospital, and Clinics, 2012; Masters of Science, Health-System Pharmacy Administration, University of Wisconsin, 2012. Current Position: Pharmacy Director, Outpatient Pharmacy Services Practice Achievements: Melissa has focused her career championing pharmacy practice advancement initiatives, locally and nationally. In the past ten years, Melissa moved the needle in pharmacy practice by continuously devoting efforts in promoting the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Model Initiative at her organization and facilitating state affiliate summits. As a proud member of the Tufts Medical Center pharmacy leadership team, she established pharmacy programs in emergency medicine, ambulatory care, sterile compounding, technician advancement, residency training, and specialty pharmacy. Melissa has also implemented technologies within the medication use system to promote safe dispensing and preparation practices. Locally, she is an active member of the Massachusetts Society of Health-System Pharmacists, including the 2018 MSHP President, and continues her service as the Legislative Committee Chair. Nationally, Melissa has a sustained contribution to the ASHP Sections for Pharmacy Practice Leaders to help foster effective pharmacy leadership skills, including Faculty of the ASHP Manager’s Boot Camp, Chair of the Education Steering Committee, and an advisory group member. Melissa has also led the ASHP New Practitioners Advocacy Advisory Group and served on the Council for Public Policy, promoting advocacy as a professional obligation. Most recently, Melissa received an honor to participate in the Racial Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce.
