Recruiting and retaining pharmacists and pharmacy technicians has become increasingly challenging for pharmacy leaders. This podcast explores strategies for optimizing the pharmacy workforce, addressing recruitment and retention challenges, sharing success stories, and offering practical tips from two hospital pharmacy leaders.

SPEAKERS

Rebecca (Becky) TaylorRebecca (Becky) Taylor, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP, (she/her) is vice president, pharmacy service line, UPMC Corporate Services where she oversees acute and ambulatory hospital care at over 44 hospital-based sites in 3 states. She is responsible for the strategic direction and integration for the pharmacy services across the health system. Prior to this role, she worked at Cleveland Clinic in various roles for 13 years including main campus and several regional hospitals as the Director. 

Brian LathamBrian Latham, PharmD, MBA, (he/him) serves as the executive director of pharmacy for Bon Secours Mercy Health. In this role he assists 17 hospitals and their pharmacy leaders with pharmacy strategies surrounding clinical practice, pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, technology, and supply chain/financial savings. Brian obtained his PharmD degree from Ohio Northern University and his MBA from Louisiana State University. This past year he has chaired the ASHP Section Advisory group on Business Development and System Integration.

Jeff ThielJeff Thiel, PharmD, MAS, BCPS, BCPPS, (he/him) is assistant vice president pharmacy services at NorthShore University HealthSystem-EEH in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Thiel has region wide oversight for the pharmacies within 6 hospitals of the health system and campus level administrative responsibilities at Evanston Hospital. He received his BS in Chemistry from Ball State University, Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University and completed a combined PGY1/PGY2 residency in Health System Pharmacy Administration at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
