This podcast episode is a special edition as part of ASHP’s recognition of Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This episode provides an engaging interview with three pharmacy leaders who have had successful careers and contributed significantly to health system professional associations. Binita Patel, Ashley Ramp, and Chris Scott will share their insights on their professional journeys as pharmacists and association leaders. This discussion includes the value of mentors, essentials for leading teams, growing influence, and achieving personal goals.

SPEAKERS

Binita PatelBinita Patel, PharmD, MS is currently the Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Memorial Hermann Health-system. Binita also is the program director of the Health-system administration residency program. She sits on the SPPL Committee on Multi-Hospital Pharmacy Executives at ASHP and was one of the co-authors for the latest AJHP Forecast. Binita recently won Women Who Mean Business in Healthcare and Texas Medical Center Hero due to her efforts to fight COVID-19.

Ashley RampAshley Ramp, PharmD, MEd, MS is the Director of Pharmacy for the Network of Care at Colorado Children’s Hospital.  She leads a dynamic team to meet daily patient care needs and strategic objectives.  Dr. Ramp completed her PharmD at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her post-graduate residency at Cleveland Clinic.  Dr. Ramp’s professional interests include process optimization, continuous improvement and medication safety.  Outside of work, she enjoys reading, being a Zumba instructor and spending time with her 3 children.

Christopher ScottChristopher M. Scott, PharmD, BCPS, FCCM, FASHP is Chief Clinical & Revenue Officer at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Scott received his BS and PharmD from Purdue University. He completed a PGY1 residency and PGY2 critical care residency at Indiana University Health. Dr. Scott is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and has been recognized as a Fellow in Critical Care Medicine and a Fellow of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists.

David ChenDavid Chen, BSPharm, MBA joined ASHP in September 2004 and is Assistant Vice President for Pharmacy Leadership and Planning and had previously served the role as Director of Pharmacy at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD, including the Kessler/Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital. Prior experience includes different Director of Pharmacy roles in Texas and Florida and central operations supervisor for the University of Maryland Medical Center Pharmacy. Additionally, he was a Regional Marketing Manager for the west coast and Regional Recruiter for the northeast with Owen Healthcare, Inc. (now part of Cardinal Health).
