Managing Through Pharmacy Service Changes During a Pandemic

This podcast will focus on leading through rapid change as a result of Covid-19. The main topics include change within various pharmacy services, including hospital closures, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring pharmacist responsibilities and modification or elimination of current pharmacy services. In addition to discussing changes, this podcast will discuss lessons learned, opportunities that arose and efforts to reactivate services that were discontinued.

SPEAKERS

Brittanie WielandBrittanie Wieland is a PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership resident at The University of Kansas Health System (TUKHS). She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa and is obtaining her Master of Science in Pharmacy Practice at the University of Kansas in May 2021. After residency, she will continue at TUKHS in an ambulatory care leadership role. Her interests include employee engagement, specialty pharmacy and medication safety.

Michelle BorchartMichelle Borchart is a Pharmacy Clinical Manager at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital. Michelle received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota and completed a PGY1 residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview. Following residency, Michelle stayed on as a clinical pharmacist then moved to Fairview Southdale where she took the role as a Clinical Specialist. She then moved to the Clinical Manager position a little over 6 years ago.

Lindsey ClarkLindsey Clark, Pharm.D., MBA, is the Pharmacy Manager, Transitions of Care and Emergency Services at Michigan Medicine and Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Lindsey received her Pharm.D. from Wayne State University and M.B.A. in Health Care Management from New England College. She completed a 2-year residency in Health System Pharmacy Administration at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Lindsey is a graduate of the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy.

Steven SilversteinSteven Silverstein has held his current position for the past 9 years. He received his PharmD from the University of Illinois at Chicago - College of Pharmacy (UIC-COP), and a BA from the University of Michigan. He oversees all aspects of pharmacy including an inpatient pharmacy, 2 outpatient pharmacies, a clinical ambulatory care pharmacy group, a residency program, and a complex 340B program. Prior positions include Inpatient Pharmacy Director, Assistant Director of Pharmacy, and Clinical Staff Pharmacist at Mercy. Steven is also an adjunct instructor with the UIC-COP where he precepts fourth year pharmacy students.
