This podcast takes a deep dive into a student’s perspective on a myriad of residency application topics including reference letter writing, role of the Midyear Clinical Meeting, and factors to consider when choosing the best fit residency.

SPEAKERS

Aliyah CruzAliyah Cruz, PharmD, is an PGY1 HSPAL resident at UW Health. She is a proud Tar Heel, graduating from the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2022. She has been a vocal advocate throughout her pharmacy career for underserved populations and DEI efforts in each organization she has been a part of. This has been highlighted in her work thus far within ASHP and in other organizations, such as her role as the National President for the Student National Pharmaceutical Association for the 2021 – 22 years.

Chris AmadiChris Amadi, PharmD, originally from Nigeria, is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where he received his Doctorate in Pharmacy and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Spring of 2022. He is an incoming PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) resident at UC Davis Health.

Elizabeth KingElizabeth King, PharmD, BCOP,  received her pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 2018. After graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City for her PGY1 pharmacy residency followed by her PGY2 in oncology at University of Utah Health. After residency, Elizabeth moved to her current position as an inpatient hematology/oncology pharmacy specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Elizabeth is passionate about infectious diseases, malignant hematology, and the advancement of pharmacy practice.

Emily RaglandEmily Ragland, PharmD, is a clinical pharmacist with Cigna Medicare. Throughout her PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency with the Cigna Medicare Clinical Pharmacy Team, Emily grew increasingly passionate about pharmacy quality improvement, managed care pharmacy practice, and pharmacy advocacy. In addition to her role as a medication management pharmacist, she values student preceptorship and mentorship for any students interested in learning more about managed care pharmacy.
