In this episode, the team from the UNC Health to discuss their award winning submission to the ASHP Best Practices. They will share how they established a comprehensive Pharmacy Revenue Integrity program for outpatient medical benefit claims within pharmacy services, aligning financial, clinical and operational areas to ensure department and institutional longā€term financial strength.

SPEAKERS

Lindsey AmerineLindsey B. Amerine, PharmD, MS, BCPS, CPEL, FASHP, is system executive director of Pharmacy for UNC Health, Coordinator for the HSPAL Residency, and an Associate Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy (ESOP). Dr. Amerine earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and her Master of Science degree with an emphasis in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from the UNC ESOP while completing her two-year HSPA Residency at UNC Hospitals.

Suzanne J. FrancartSuzanne J. Francart, PharmD, MS, BCPS, is the System Pharmacy Director for Revenue Cycle and Managed Care at University of North Carolina Health. She earned her PharmD from Virginia Commonwealth University, completed a PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacotherapy residency at UNC Hospitals, and later earned her MS degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from UNC. Suzanne practiced as a clinical pharmacist and pharmacy leader overseeing infusion services, medication assistance and pharmacy revenue integrity prior to her current role.

Kathy MillerKathy Miller, MHS, is the operational project manager on the Pharmacy Revenue Integrity team at UNC Health.  Her position focuses on ensuring that charges and reimbursement are accurate across the hospital pharmacy service line and analyzing the financial impact of payor policy changes and updates to regulatory language.  Kathy received her master's degree in healthcare administration from Georgia Southern University in Savannah, GA.  Her background is in hospital revenue cycle and reimbursement. 

Ruth Ann LeeRuth-Ann Lee, PharmD, is the clinical manager for the medication assistance program team at UNC Health in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ruth-Ann oversees the precertification team for injectable and infusion therapies and the manufacturer assistance team for under-insured and non-insured patients. Ruth-Ann received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and PGY2 Solid Organ Transplant Residency at UC Health in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Vicki BasalygaVicki Basalyga, PharmD, MAS, BCPS, BCPPS, is the Director of Member Relations for the Clinical Specialists and Scientists at ASHP. In addition to her Director role, Vicki assists in clinical policy development as the Secretary for the Council on Therapeutics, serves as a representative for ASHP on numerous national clinical initiatives and works with members to create essential tools and resources for leaders, practitioners and educators.
