Exploring Residency Programs: A Focus on Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics is a unique area of practice that student pharmacists may not know very much about. This podcast episode provides an overview of pharmacogenomic residency opportunities so that students may consider this avenue for post-graduate training.

SPEAKERS

Lauren LeeLauren Lee is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. She is passionate about giving back to her community and mentoring other pharmacy students through various student organizations including SSHP, SNPhA, and PLS. She hopes to pursue a PGY-1 and a specialized PGY-2 in her area of interest. Next year, she will be completing a Longitudinal APPE Program at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital in order to further prepare her for residency.

Chanecia JacksonChanecia Jackson is currently a second-year pharmacy student at Mercer University located in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Georgia State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy. She currently works as a pharmacy intern. She is active within the student chapter of GSHP, and she also serves as a pharmacy ambassador for Mercer University College of Pharmacy.

Breonna HarrisonBreonna Harrison is a P3 from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Breonna serves on the Residency Preparation Advisory Group as well as the President of the Orlando SSHP chapter. She hopes to pursue residency after pharmacy school, with interests in oncology, pharmacogenomics, ambulatory care, and infectious disease. In her free time, Breonna likes to listen to music, watch movies, and watch football.
