Leadership & Lockdown: A Discussion on the Student Pharmacist Leader’s Transition in and Out of Remote Leadership Positions during the COVID-19 Pandemic

For many student pharmacist leaders, the transition from in-person to remote leadership in March 2020 was a jarring experience. From re-planning an organization’s traditions to resolving conflicts through a screen, pharmacy students adapted to new leadership styles and ways to maintain their mental well-being. This podcast episode interviews second, third, and fourth year student pharmacists about their experiences navigating the pandemic as student leaders. Discussion topics include practical ways to organize remote leadership tasks and how to promote resiliency by relying on mentors around you.

SPEAKERS

Lauren CampisiLauren Campisi is a P4 originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She was actively involved at the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy in Auburn, AL. She served as a leader in the school as the 2020 Student Council President and 2019 Senator and as a leader within her pharmacy class on the Board of Ethical and Professional Conduct. During her years of pharmacy school, she was honored with acceptance into the Children’s of Alabama Pharmacy Summer Aide Program that offers a wide variety of pediatric learning opportunities and clinical experiences. Most recently, she competed and won the 2021 ASHP National Clinical Skills Competition. Lauren is interested in pursuing a PGY1 pharmacy residency with dreams of becoming a pediatric clinical pharmacist.

Ryback Cyzr LomboyRyback Cyzr Lomboy is a 3rd-year student pharmacist at the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy at UT Tyler. His interests include psychiatry, infectious diseases, and academia. After graduation, Ryback would like to pursue a residency and work in an institutional or ambulatory care setting. He actively participates in student organizations, including PDC, SSHP, APhA-ASP, SNPhA, and TPA. He enjoys creative writing and helping create video games with friends in his free time.

Haley McKeeferHaley McKeefer is a PharmD/MHA candidate at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX. She currently serves as the PSF Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group’s Well-being & Resilience Charge Lead. Haley has held multiple pharmacy leadership roles, including Class President, Social Media Coordinator for Metroplex Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, and APhA Region 6 Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator. Her current practice interests include critical care, infectious disease, and pharmacy advocacy.
