ASHP conducted two surveys in late 2021 better understand how ASHP can promote technician development through the advancement of patient care roles and increased responsibilities, and address recruitment and retention issues within the technician workforce. Executive Committee Members of the Pharmacy Technician Forum and Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders meet during the 2022 ASHP Summer Meetings in Phoenix, AZ to reflect on the key findings identified from these surveys.

Mark Sullivan, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP is associate chief pharmacy officer for Vanderbilt University Hospital and Clinics in Nashville, Tennessee. He is the Residency Program Director for the Health System Pharmacy Administration Residency at Vanderbilt. He has served as an invited member of the USP Safe Medication Use Committee, vice chair of the ASHP Practice Managers Section Advisory group on communications, and chair of the ASHP Practice Manager's Section Advisory group on manager development and is currently a Director at Large for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders.
Jeff Little, PharmD, MPH, BCPS, FACHE, FASHP is director of pharmacy at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Little received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and his Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, where he completed a combined PGY1/PGY2 health-system pharmacy administration residency. Little is past Chair of the ASHP Council on Public Policy and of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders.
JoAnne Myhre, BA, CPhT, FMSHP has worked as a pharmacy technician in various practice settings over the past 30 years and spent most of her career in hospital practice as a Pharmacy Operations Manager. Currently, she is the Drug Diversion Program Manager for Allina Health where she oversees an effective, risk-based approach for mitigating diversion risks. She has served as the Chair of the St Paul College Pharmacy Technician Advisory Board and is the immediate past Chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Technician Forum Executive Committee.
Cindy Jeter, CPhT, CPP, BGS has over 20 years’ experience as a CPhT filling multiple roles in health system pharmacy. She began as a Staff Technician, then became a Sterile Compounding Technician, Narcotic Tech, OR Satellite Tech, Automated Dispensing Cabinets Administrator, Patient Assistance Representative, and Purchasing Coordinator. Cindy has worked as a Regional Purchasing Manager, Trainer and Supply Chain Consultant. Cindy developed McKesson Buyer's University™, which is a training program to assist pharmacy purchasing agents to increase their skills. Cindy currently serves on the ASHP Pharmacy Technician Forum Executive Committee.
Lindsey R. Kelley, PharmD, MS, FASHP is director of ambulatory, oncology, and research pharmacy services at Michigan Medicine. She serves as Program Director for the PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency and adjunct faculty at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. Kelley earned her PharmD from The University of Arizona in Tucson. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, received her MS from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy where she completed a two-year health-system pharmacy administration and leadership residency. Kelley has been an active member of ASHP and state affiliates and was recently elected to serve as Director-at-Large for the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders.
Lindsey B. Amerine, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FASHP is system executive director of pharmacy for UNC Health and HSPAL Residency Coordinator at UNC Medical Center. She is an Associate Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Amerine earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy and her Master of Science degree from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy while completing her two-year HSPA Residency at UNC.
Hannah Vanderpool, PharmD, MA is the Vice President of Member Relations at ASHP. This position is responsible for organization-wide development and implementation of ASHP’s membership growth and development functions. The Office of Member Relations is responsible for relationships with ASHP’s affiliated state societies, pharmacy practice sections, membership forums, Student Societies of Health-System Pharmacy, and relationships with key partner organizations.
Hannah graduated with her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Drake University. She completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and was awarded the Richard H. Hutchinson Award for Excellence in Pharmacy Practice. Following the completion of her residency, she joined the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Pharmacy where she taught in a number of pharmacy practice courses and coordinated experiential education programs. Hannah also received her Master’s degree in Organizational Management from The George Washington University in Washington DC.
Hannah has worked at ASHP since 1997 and has traveled extensively, speaking to practitioners and students about ASHP strategic initiatives and issues in health-system pharmacy.
Tyffani T. Wingfield, PhD, MA is the ASHP Director of the Pharmacy Technician Forum. In this role, Dr. Wingfield serves as secretary to the Forum’s Executive Committee and leads the development and implementation of national tools, resources, and programs for pharmacy technicians.
Prior to ASHP, Dr. Wingfield served in a variety leadership roles for the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Army Office of Business Transformation, and NASA Office of Education. With over twenty-two years of experience, she is proficient in working closely with organizational leaders in promoting dynamic teams/culture, developing policies and effective communications strategies, and advancing membership engagement.
She holds BA in English and biology from Virginia Commonwealth University, a MA in higher education administration & supervision from The George Washington University, and a PhD in organizational management with a focus in executive leadership from Capella University.
