ASHP has adopted a three-pronged approach to board review:
Live and Online Specialty Review Courses are designed for high-level practitioners looking for a scenario-based and interactive approach to learning. Course participants follow fictional patients in real-life scenarios, including initial presentation, medical history, risk factors, and complications throughout their treatments and outcomes. Participants learn as they apply various treatment options based on national standards and guidelines. Strong emphasis is placed on the thought processes needed to solve patient care problems in each therapeutic area. As patient cases are discussed, faculty members answer your questions to illustrate key concepts.
Highlights of an ASHP review course include:
- Interesting, application-based review course approach using complex, case-based interactive learning for high-level practitioners and specialists
- Coverage of health-related problems and socioeconomic factors
- Educational materials that can be downloaded and printed in advance as well as a practice test containing more than 100 practice questions with explained answers and references
- Core Therapeutic Module for home study, covering statistics, evidence-based medicine, and research design
- Comprehensive coverage for exam preparation in only two days, saving you time away from work and home, and drastically reducing travel expenses (applies only to live courses)
The Practice exam, is an online compilation of practice questions with the capability to download the correct answer,and link to the reference source, domains, tasks, and knowledge statements. Take the practice exam as many times as you need.
The Core Therapeutic Modules (CTMs) are designed as a library of modules to customize your own self study program, and serves as a foundation to help fill knowledge gaps in various topics or disease states.
ASHP's Review and Recertification Reward Program that provides free board review resources to residents and new practitioners seeking board certification. Available for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, Critical Care Pharmacy, Geriatric Pharmacy, Pediatric Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy specialties.
Not all programs and activities are available for all specialties.
For board recertification
ASHP has adopted a fourfold approach to support practitioner’s recertification requirements while simultaneously meeting their need for continuous professional development:
- Live and Online Specialty Recertification Course for the practitioner looking for a refresh in national standards and guidelines
- Literature Study Modules for the practitioner who needs to stay current with the most recent articles and literature
- Intensive Studies/BCOP Clinical Sessions for the practitioner who wants interactive discussions and debates on emerging issues and hot topics
- Core Therapeutic Modules for recertification for the practitioner seeking a focused “refresher” on pharmacy topics and therapeutic areas
ASHP's 3-Year Recertification Plans provide more than the required number of recertification credit hours as mandated by BPS for certification maintenance. Each plan provides users with online recertification activities and assessments that are automatically added to their eLearning account when launched. Recertification activities are released at various times throughout the year and expire 6 months from their release date.
All recertification activities provide immediate pass/fail notification and ASHP is the only professional development provider to offer real-time reporting od BPS recertification credit.
