Responding to the call to leadership is one of the most rewarding and challenging roles in a career.  The section is poised to support technical and humanistic skill growth necessary for those in or seeking a leadership position. Leadership takes a strong foundation of knowledge, experience, sense of self, and compassion for others.  Today's leaders navigate waters not familiar to those of the past. The ability to adapt oneself and serve others is a remarkable combination. As our leadership pools continue to evaporate, leaders must reach out to those with talent and, especially, drive. Highlight their strengths to foster potential they may not see in themselves. Every leader must ensure a sustainable legacy for a workforce that evolves our profession regardless of what external pressures may exist.

The section provides a platform for connectivity and support. Leaders are challenged to grow and encouraged to expand their contributions. Each experience within the section offers an opportunity to self-assess and reach out to trusted colleagues. With such resources we each evolve into great leaders who develop even greater teams.  With the right people in place, our unrelenting mission of extraordinary patient care is more easily achieved.

I am proud of my contributions to ASHP. It has provided more than I could have imagined. I offer my sincere gratitude for this nomination, and I look forward to further collaboration to carry our vision forward.
