SACP Chair Message January 2020

January 2020

“I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it.” – Thomas Jefferson

Dear Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP) Members,

The end of a calendar year and start of a new one is always an exciting time. We get to enjoy the holidays, and hopefully our hard work was rewarded with some well-deserved time off with family and friends. It’s also the time when so many of us gather for the Midyear Clinical Meeting and connect with colleagues and friends from across the country, engage in our profession through educational programming and networking sessions, guide our learners through their career progression with the residency showcase and PPS interviews, and celebrate the accomplishments of our amazing members.

I want to provide a special congratulations to Barbara Petroff, B.S.Pharm., M.S., FASHP who was the 2019 Distinguished Service Award Winner for the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners. Barbara is a certified accreditation consultant and provides consulting services for infusion, specialty pharmacy, sterile compounding and accreditation preparation, and as an expert witness. Barbara is a long-standing ASHP member, and as a member of the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners served as the Chair for the Section Advisory Group on Home Infusion. Thank you Barbara for your service to the Section, and we are excited to bestow you with this honor!

The Midyear Clinical Meeting is also one of the few chances the Section Executive Committee has the chance to meet in person. This is always a highlight of the Conference for me, as we have the chance to review the amazing hard work and accomplishments of our members. Our Section Advisory Groups (SAGs) have been hard at work with the release of many resources to our members already. 2020 is going to be an exciting year, as our SAGs are already working on podcasts, updated FAQ documents, blog posts for ASHP Connect, programming for national meetings, and much more! Please be on the lookout for these great resources over the coming year.

As a reminder, information will be coming out soon with your opportunity to apply for one of our Section Advisory Groups. These groups are among the best way to actively engage and contribute to the Section and ASHP. I would strongly encourage you to consider applying. Please also feel free to reach out to an Executive Committee member or other colleagues/associates that are SAGs members if you are interested or have questions.

As we celebrate all the hard work accomplished in 2019, I hope you were graced with good fortune and luck around the holidays. Use it as motivation to carry your momentum into 2020 and continue your great work!

All the best,

Zach Weber, PharmD, BCPS, BCACP, CDE
