Chair Message November 2017

November 2017

Happy November! This is my favorite time of year…perhaps due to the fall foliage, cooler temperatures, more time with family and friends, and memorable holidays – but also because it is almost time for the annual Midyear Clinical Meeting!

Thousands of us will come together soon in sunny Orlando to network, learn and reconnect. With over 20 educational sessions from our section alone, in addition to a plethora of other learning opportunities, there is so much to be a part of! You can plan your experience by taking a look at educational opportunities, earn some Board Certification continuing education hours, attend some of the exciting, special events and much, much, more!

I wanted to point out some new and highlighted networking opportunities, such as exclusive, combined networking and poster sessions hosted by the Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists and Ambulatory Care that will be held in the in the Residency Showcase area on Sunday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These sessions will be an opportunity for those who have an interest or practice within these areas to network with like-minded members and view research by clinical pharmacists throughout the country.

Kicking off this event is the Pediatrics/Neonatal/OB dual session which will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Emergency Care dual session will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The Critical Care dual session will follow from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and wrapping up the event will be the Ambulatory Care Poster sessions which will occur between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Dr. Mae Jemison, the remarkable female astronaut and keynote speaker at the ASHP Summer meeting in June, said: “There are 86,400 seconds in each day and you cannot get them back. Thank you for giving me one by [reading this message]” – OK, or maybe it took you a few seconds! Nonetheless, looking forward to another great ASHP meeting and hope to meet you there!

As always, let us know how we can better serve you at [email protected]. Make it a great day!
