How and why I became interested in being appointed to the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee
I first became interested in the Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee (PSFEC) during my summer internship with ASHP in 2017. While I was at the ASHP Summer Meeting, I had the opportunity to participate in the PSFEC’s first meeting and speak to the members. I was inspired by the common vision and goals that they all had even though they were from programs across the nation. My interest was sparked from that encounter and further enhanced during my time at ASHP. By the end of the internship, I had developed a passion for ASHP as an organization and I realized I did not want to end my involvement there. PSFEC is the perfect opportunity for me to continue contributing to the organization and the profession by serving as a voice for student pharmacists. I am beyond excited to create and provide different resources that will benefit our members throughout their education. More importantly, I hope I will be able to encourage them to develop as future pharmacy leaders and take an active role in supporting an expansion of pharmacists’ roles within the healthcare team as they progress through their careers.

How being a member of ASHP has assisted in my personal and professional development
ASHP has served as an invaluable resource for me throughout my time as a student pharmacist. On the local level, I have been involved with my SSHP since my first year and have gained countless professional opportunities, including leadership positions and networking. On the national level, I have benefited from programs such as the CV Review, educational webinars, professional meetings, and more. Most importantly, I had the privilege of experiencing the ASHP Summer Internship in 2017, where I learned from many incredible and inspirational leaders. I felt as if I was stepping outside my comfort zone, but I am so glad I did because it allowed me to develop both personally and professionally. As a student pharmacist, sometimes it is easy to get caught up with what is going on in the moment. Being involved with ASHP has been one of the best experience during my education and a pleasant reminder that we are all in this profession together to provide the best patient care.
