Reasons for selecting pharmacy:
I decided to choose pharmacy because of the diverse career opportunities available. Prior to pharmacy school, I was fortunate to work in a couple entry-level leadership roles.  However, these were not in healthcare. I wanted to find a career that would be able to bridge my science and health education knowledge with my leadership experience. This is a very exciting time for pharmacists and now more than ever pharmacists are key players in leadership roles in all aspects of the healthcare system.

Professional Interests:

  • Health-System Pharmacy Administration
  • Medication Safety Use
  • Internal Medicine
  • Academia

Interest in the PSF Executive Committee:

Early in my first year, I became interested in becoming more involved with ASHP. However, I was unsure at the time how I would contribute. The first step I took was becoming involved with the SSHP chapter at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine- GA Campus (PCOM GA) where I served as the President-Elect of the SSHP chapter. Throughout my year as President-Elect, I was fortunate to have multiple opportunities to network, participate in state-level committees with the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacist (GSHP), and improve my leadership skills. After serving in this role, it became clear to me that I wanted to be actively involved at the national level. I utilized the ASHP student resources to explore ways I could become more involved as a pharmacy student. The Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee presented a rare opportunity to become more actively involved with pharmacy students throughout the nation and continue to advocate and support the growth of health system pharmacy practice!

How being a member of ASHP has assisted in my personal and professional development:

Becoming a member of ASHP is one of the best choices that I have made to help myself grow and develop as a pharmacy student. ASHP offers many resources for pharmacy students such as support and guidance to SSHP chapters, CV feedback, and opportunities to network and learn more about pharmacy through multiple forums and meetings throughout the year. ASHP has helped me become aware of the different aspects of health system pharmacy and has helped me to grow as a pharmacy student leader.

Goals for the year as a PSFEC Member:

  • Promote awareness of the resources ASHP provides for pharmacy students
  • Motivate SSHP chapters to become involved in ASHP Pharmacy Advancement Initiatives
  • Serve as resource for students to learn more about policies that pertain to healthcare and pharmacy
  •  Advocate for policy changes to improve pharmacy practice

Fun Fact: I am a faithful Atlanta Hawks fan!
