Reasons for selecting pharmacy:

The pharmacy profession acts as a mainstay of the healthcare landscape that can be characterized by its ability to provide patients with an easily accessible healthcare experience provided by experts in their field. Prior to pharmacy school, I worked as a phlebotomist, where I became fascinated by the level of knowledge and expertise held by pharmacy professionals. I was fortunate to work alongside pharmacists who taught me about their crucial role within a healthcare team, where I realized that pharmacy would be the perfect platform for me to realize my goals of providing optimal patient care on a large scale while satisfying my clinical and professional interests at the same time.

Professional Interests:

  • Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership
  • Informatics
  • Infectious Disease

Interest in the PSF Executive Committee:

As I've gone about my pharmacy school education, it has become abundantly clear that I am lucky to be a part of a profession that is so invested in pouring into future generations of healthcare professionals. Ever since joining my local SSHP chapter as a P1, I’ve witnessed how ASHP prioritizes the advancement of our profession, and since then, it has always been my goal to contribute to that mission on as large of a scale as possible. Fast forward to today, where I’ve been fortunate enough to work towards this goal through my leadership roles within my local SSHP chapter, as well as my involvement within the PSF Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group. Through these experiences I’ve been able to benefit from the expert leadership and student advocacy provided by PSF Executive Committee members and am honored that I am now in a position where I can do the same and contribute to the growth of my peers.

How being a member of ASHP has assisted in my personal and professional development:

To say that ASHP provides students with resources to succeed would be a massive understatement. Between online resources, the Pharmacy Student Forum, professional conferences, and everything in between, ASHP has been the driving force of my personal and professional development since joining SSHP my P1 year. Coming into pharmacy school, I had a very weak grasp on my professional identity, and I can confidently say that my involvement within ASHP has provided me with a detailed blueprint on how to put my best foot forward as I navigate my pharmacy education and beyond.

Goals for the year as a PSFEC Member:

  • Empower SSHP chapters to actively provide their members with formative experiences that help them reach their professional and personal goals
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by promoting teamwork and recognizing individual contributions.
  • Advocate for the profession of pharmacy and healthcare policies that promote patient-centered care and improve access to medication and healthcare services.
  • Brainstorm innovative ways for students to interact with the pharmacy profession as a means to more easily establish future career interests and recognize their ability to contribute to our profession.

Fun Fact:

I love to scuba dive, but have a terrible fear of open water.
