Anchorage, AK

ASHP MEMBER SINCE 2010

Ashley Schaber, Pharm.D., M.B.A., BCPS, NCPS, began her pharmacy career at age 16, when a good friend encouraged her to take a position as a pharmacy technician at a local retail pharmacy. “As I learned more about pharmacy, I found that it was the perfect blend of science and patient care, and I decided to pursue pharmacy school,” she said.

Ashley is a Commissioned Corps Officer in the United States Public Health Service and is currently the Assistant Chief Pharmacist and Inpatient Pharmacy Manager at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.

She joined ASHP as a student and became involved with ASHP as one of the Alaska delegates to the House of Delegates. “I maintain membership and involvement as a way to stay current and give back to the pharmacy profession,” said Ashley.

Her most memorable ASHP moment occurred during the 2017 ASHP House of Delegates: “I spoke on behalf of the fraternal delegates to make recommendations supporting pharmacists’ roles in mental health and sleep management,” Ashley said. She also recommended “making an amendment to the pain management policy to include the stigma component of the Surgeon General’s report on opioid abuse.”
