“As I continue to grow as a professional and a leader, ASHP cultivates an atmosphere for me to be successful in collaborating with others, sharing, gaining insight, and ultimately leaning forward,” said Cedric Terrell, Pharm.D., M.H.A.

He joined ASHP as a student in 1999. “As part of my graduate year, I was required to present a research poster at the ASHP Midyear meeting,” said Cedric, who is the Senior Vice President of Pharmacy Services at Novant Health in Charlotte, N.C.

One of his proudest moments occurred during the 2012 Midyear meeting, where he gave a presentation about how to develop a medication-use system strategic plan. “Afterward, one of my preceptors from college came up and congratulated me on the discussion. It meant a lot to me,” said Cedric.

He believes that there is no magic career path or road. “As our profession advances, so do the requirements for success,” said Cedric. He encourages pharmacy students to be courageous and to take advantage of opportunities that match with future goals. “Get involved in ASHP. There are countless opportunities for you to grow as a professional and advance our profession. It's a journey,” said Cedric.
