ASHP MEMBER SINCE 1975

As a clinician scientist, educator, and editor, Mary H. Ensom, Pharm.D., FASHP, FCAHS, FCCP, FCSHP, is intimately involved in ensuring that new knowledge is disseminated and available to clinicians and scientists around the world. “They can make a difference by incorporating this knowledge into their practice or further building on the work done by myself and other authors who publish in our journals,” said Mary, who is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia and Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Children’s and Women’s Health Centre of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Mary joined ASHP as a student in 1975 and has attended a whopping 31 ASHP Midyear Clinical meetings. “That means that I have attended every single ASHP Midyear meeting since 1985 — with the exception of 1986, which was after I gave birth to my daughter, Hannah Johnson, who is now a pharmacist herself,” said Mary. “This December, my husband, Robin, who is a retired pharmacist and hospital administrator, and I will be driving our RV from Vancouver to Orlando for my 32nd Midyear meeting!”

Mary has held leadership positions on several ASHP committees and served as a student poster mentor and a residency poster mentor for many years. She has given more than 50 poster and podium presentations at ASHP Midyear meetings.
