ASHP MEMBER SINCE 1977

Rebecca Finley, Pharm.D., M.S., FASHP, was at the Board and staff retreat in 1994 when ASHP made history. “It was when ASHP decided to recommend to the general membership to officially change the word ‘hospital’ in ASHP’s name to ‘health-system,’” she recalled.

Rebecca is the Dean of the Jefferson College of Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pa. She joined ASHP 40 years ago during the final year of her undergraduate pharmacy program. “A hospital pharmacist whom I worked for gave me an ASHP membership as a gift and described the value and importance of belonging to ASHP,” she said.

Rebecca’s interest in pharmacy began at an early age. “Growing up I had a neighbor who was an independent community pharmacist, and I always admired how much he did for our small community,” she said.

According to Rebecca, the people are what makes ASHP membership so meaningful. “Through ASHP I have had the opportunity to learn and benefit from an extraordinary group of members and staff, many of whom I consider among my closest friends,” she said. “Their dedication to the patients we serve and the advancement of our profession has been inspiring throughout my career and been very influential along every step of the way.”

Rebecca has held numerous leadership positions at ASHP, including serving as President (1995-1996), Chair of the ASHP Foundation Board (1996-1997), and as a member of the House of Delegates for most years from 1985 to today.
