Professional Interests

I began my pharmacy career as an intern in a rural, underserved area providing care to patients in a community pharmacy within an FQHC. That work continued during residency, working with the rural population that had limited access to healthcare. Today I continue to work with the underserved population, just in an urban setting. I find great joy and satisfaction working with this patient population, with my favorite part being that "Ah hah" moment that patients have. Having patients realize that the changes that are being made to their medication therapy are working and improving their health outcomes is very exciting to watch and be a part of.

Why did you become involved in ASHP?

I became involved with ASHP after being heavily involved in my state organization. I recognized the value in utilizing my involvement to make connections with pharmacists around the state of Ohio and wanted to expand my network across the country.

What unique characteristic/perspective do you bring to your everyday work or the pharmacy profession?

At my practice site, I am the only pharmacist within the clinic. In fact, prior to me starting here in December 2021, this position did not exist. Because of that, I have been able to adapt the position to incorporate all of my passions but also to meet the needs of our clinic. Secondarily, pharmacists view situations somewhat differently than physicians do, so I am able to recommend different strategies to optimize patient care.

What do you like to do for fun? What are some of your interests/hobbies outside of pharmacy?

My husband and I routinely take our 1.5 year old Goldendoodle puppy on walks every evening (and sometimes she takes us on walks). We love to travel and explore places around the country and the world that we haven't been to yet. I also really enjoy many facets of crafting, from painting acrylic on canvas to hand-stitching a mobile for above our little one's crib to repainting/redesigning rooms in our house.
