What motivates you?

Patient care and safety is always a top priority but I love helping other technicians find their passion, especially when it comes to compounding and other career advancement opportunities.

What is your latest Accomplishment?

I have created an internal website for our facilities to use to log regulatory activities such as environmental monitoring and cleaning. It also has areas to document training, competencies, media-fill and gloved fingertip tests and surface sampling. This has been a huge cost savings and allows us to keep all data internal.

What is your Passion Outside of Work?

Spending time with my husband and our cocker spaniel, Lexie, is what I love the most. But, when I’m spending time alone, I love to craft, read, and work in the garden.

What is your favorite part of your ASHP membership? What has been most beneficial about being a pharmacy technician member of ASHP?

I first joined ASHP to obtain my sterile compounding certification but have continued my membership to take advantage of the many other resources ASHP provides including the forums, networking opportunities, continuing education credits, and training materials. ASHP has been a one-stop shop for most of my educational and professional development needs as a technician who wants to keep learning and growing. I strongly recommend ASHP to all of my colleagues.

What made you interested in the PTF Educational Steering Committee?

I have a passion for helping other technicians achieve their career goals and finding or creating quality educational materials is a huge part of that. I want to make sure that ASHP continues to provide quality resources to all technicians and being a part of this committee has shown me that there are many other technicians with the same goals and passion for growing our roles. I am blessed to be working with these like-minded individuals.

What is your advice to Up-and-Coming Technicians?

Never stop learning! We are not just pill counters. Our roles are constantly evolving and more specialized roles are being created all the time. Also, encourage each other as colleagues and help each other grow.
