Why I Do What I Do

Throughout my years of service to the profession, I have identified the need for standardization of pharmacy technicians in the nation. Such standardization would ensure a baseline knowledge of those working in the pharmacy. At the end of the day, this would be the best way to serve our public safely and effectively. It is my vision to see this standardization initiated by the time I retire. As for my mission working in the state, I serve on the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy to bring the pharmacy technician aspect of pharmacy to the table.

Latest Accomplishment

I was honored as the 2016 PTCB Pharmacy Technician of the Year.

Most Memorable Experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Being a part of the steering committee to create the Northland Association of Pharmacy Technicians (NAPT). This organization has grown to be the face and voice of pharmacy technicians at the state and national levels.

Why I Became Certified

As a pharmacy technician, I wanted to validate that my on-the-job training has prepared me to have at minimum a baseline knowledge.

My Passion Outside of Work

Family, faith, friends, and the gym.

Advice to Up-and-Coming Technicians

Know your scope of practice and embrace your role to be the best you can be within the profession. Keep your focus on the importance that what we do has a direct impact on the patient/consumer. It is easy to get lost in the hectic pace of the day, but we need to remember the impact our work has overall.
