Certified Advanced Specialist Technician

Cone Health

Greensboro, NC

Why I do what I do:
My role as a pharmacy technician has evolved in my time at Cone Health. As a tech at Cone Health, I have had the ability to do more for our patients and community than I imagined. In my role, I specialize in automation, data analytics, and utilizing pharmacy tools to develop workflows that are optimal for our team, our nurses, and the patients. Pharmacy is changing all the time and there is something new to learn every day. It gives me great satisfaction to know that the things that I do have a positive impact on someone’s recovery and well-being.

Latest Accomplishment:
My latest accomplishment has been achieving my CPhT-ADV credential from PTCB. It is great to know that the efforts and commitments of career pharmacy technicians are recognized by national organizations.

Most Memorable Experience as a Pharmacy Technician:
As a preceptor for pharmacy technicians, my most memorable experience was when one of my students had a “light bulb” moment during their clinicals. Watching their reaction and growth as all the pieces of what was learned in class and what they were doing on site made me feel like a proud parent. It is important to invest in our future technicians and teach them the “whys” so they can go on to do amazing things!

Why I Became certified (if applicable):
I became certified because it was required by my first employer. I’m glad that I did, because I learned so much more during the process.

My Passion Outside of Work:
I am an artist. My pharmacy career started because my mom insisted that I have a job with benefits after I graduated from art school. I enjoy researching societal topics and creating imagery from what I have read.
