Why I do what I do?
I do what I do because of the impact my team gets to make on a patient. If our team is servicing the patient, they most likely have received a startling diagnosis. Our team does everything in their ability to make managing the patient’s medication therapies an easy process.

Latest Accomplishment:
I have earned my Technician Product Verification and Medication History certificate. Also, I presented at an ASHP Midyear on the innovative roles for technicians.

Most Memorable Experience as a Pharmacy Technician:
Thankfully, I have too many to chose! I love the work I have done. Every time a patient has gone out of their way to say hi, give me a hug, bring me a present – these moments remind me that the rough patches I experience on ‘bad days’ are worth it.

Why I Became Certified?
I originally joined the pharmacy world so to ‘get my foot in the door’. I was planning on going back to school to become a nurse, but quickly realized that it was not my dream job! I was so fulfilled by the work I did in the pharmacy. I saw the need to have Pharmacy Technicians who were willing to help patients understand the pharmacy process and developed my career off of that.

My Passion Outside of Work or Hobbies:
Playing with my kids (12y.o. daughter and 4y.o. son), video games, tabletop games, and hanging with my friends.

Latest Book Read:
Real Murders by Charlaine Harris. I really enjoy her writings. Plus, nothing is better than a good murder mystery!

Advice to Up-and-Coming Technicians:
Your career can be so much more than you ever expected. During my decade as working as a technician, there has been such an advancement of the profession and allowing technicians to take on more specialize roles. This is just the beginning. Focus on what you are passionate about, make connections with other technicians, and explore any opportunity that is presented to you.
