When did you first join ASHP?

I joined ASHP during my first semester of pharmacy school in the Fall of 2020. I always knew I wanted to pursue a residency, so our SSHP chapter immediately caught my eye. Needless to say, you can imagine how excited I was when I learned that ASHP offers free membership to P1 students. This opportunity gave me immediate access to an endless library of resources that provided me with an excellent launching pad for my pharmacy school career and beyond. 

What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?

I am currently a member of the Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group where I work with my peers to provide pharmacy students with tools and resources that contribute to their development into leaders within the pharmacy community. Currently, my workgroup is creating a leadership themed podcast episode that we are excited to record!

What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?

My favorite part of ASHP student membership has been how it has helped me greatly expand my pharmacy network. I believe that its important to stay involved within the community, and establishing new connections plays a great role in that. Through the opportunities afforded to me through my student membership, I’ve been able to connect with technicians, pharmacists, residents, & students from across the nation that I would not have had the chance to meet otherwise.

What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?

Currently, my favorite memory has been my training in the ASHP Well-Being Ambassador program. Having started pharmacy school at the height of the pandemic, I’ve seen first-hand how resiliency & burnout are facets of healthcare that cannot be taken for granted. By going through this program, it has been a humbling to see how the pharmacy community can come together to promote the well-being of those in our profession.

What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?

If you’re even the slightest bit interested, I highly recommend diving right in! Although involvement at a national level might seem overwhelming for some, it is an extremely rewarding experience that stands to enrich your pharmacy school journey.  There are endless opportunities to find experiences that match your interests, so it is 100% something that you can make your own while also contributing to the advancement of the pharmacy profession at the same time.
