Her Story

Dr. Throckmorton received her Pharm.D. degree from Purdue University College of Pharmacy in 2017. She then went to complete a PGY1 Residency with Sullivan University College of Pharmacy Center for Health and Wellness from 2017-2018, then completed a PGY2 Ambulatory Care and Education Residency with the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center and Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2018-2019. Dr. Throckmorton also accomplished BCACP certification in 2020. 
Describe the facility where you work (eg. Is it a teaching hospital? Health Center? 

U Health Southern Indiana Physicians is a multi-specialty physician group based in Bloomington and surrounding counties. Our physicians, advanced practice providers, and pharmacists are dedicated to providing quality care to South Central Indiana. 

Recent Significant Projects

Dr. Throckmorton has been involved in a multitude of projects, one significantly has been launching a new PGY2 Residency in Ambulatory Care. The residency is currently recruiting for the first resident for 2022. When not working on the PGY2 program, Dr. Throckmorton continues to develop and enhance the student track program, that contains block schedules for 5 months for select students from Indiana's Colleges of Pharmacy.

Initial Involvement in ASHP

Dr. Throckmorton has been involved with both the ASHP  New Practitioners Forum Advisory Groups and the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners advisory group on Medication Management Services. Dr. Throckmorton stays active with these groups, networking activities, and meetings.

Why did you become involved in ASHP? 

Dr. Throckmorton originally became involved with ASHP during pharmacy school and throughout residency, but became more involved after discussions with her manager who highly recommended advisory groups and the opportunities that can come out of involvement with ASHP.

Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area 

Dr. Throckmorton's advice for someone new in Ambulatory Care would be to watch for areas of growth and stay involved. Take on new opportunities and keep learning. It can be difficult to grow new practices and new clinics, but keep moving forward and be open to opportunities that you may not have initially expected. 

How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?

ASHP has been extremely beneficial for the advancement of my career. The educational materials, networking, career development, and so much more it have all helped me develop into the practitioner I am today. ASHP has been a key piece of my professional development. 

What is the value of ASHP for the profession?

ASHP is of insurmountable value to the profession of pharmacy. ASHP is a leader in advancement and advocacy for our profession. It is in part due to ASHP and its members that the pharmacy practice is what it is today and what it will be tomorrow.
