Her Story

Dr. Krueger received her PharmD from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2016. She then went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. Dr. Krueger became board certified in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy in 2020. She is currently the Pharmacy in Charge of the Salina Regional Outpatient Pharmacy.

She is currently the Pharmacy in Charge of the Salina Regional Outpatient Pharmacy and runs the hospital's Meds to Beds program. She serves as the preceptor for the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency transitions of care and psychiatry electives. She precepts IPPE and APPE students from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy, and was voted 2022 preceptor of the year. She also serves as adjunct faculty at the KU-Salina School of Medicine and the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy

Describe the facility where you work (eg. Is it a teaching hospital? Health Center?) 

Salina Regional Health Center is an interdisciplinary teaching hospital that serves Salina, Kansas and 15 surrounding counties. SRHC is also affiliated with COMCARE, one of the largest family practice clinics in the state with 22 physicians across four locations. The SRHC Outpatient Pharmacy serves as the preferred pharmacy for the 2,500 employees of the health system, as well as their dependents. The Meds to Beds programs provides discharge medications to over 500 patients per month.

Recent Significant Projects

Dr. Krueger assisted in the development of the Meds to Beds Program at SRHC in 2018. Since then, she has overseen the program's operation which has tripled its yearly number of patients since implementation. She is currently working on a project to identify and resolve financial barriers to obtaining medication prior to discharge.

Initial Involvement in ASHP

Dr. Krueger was appointed as a member of the Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners Educational Steering Committee for 2022-2023.

Why did you become involved in ASHP? 

initially became involved as a student to learn more about post-graduate opportunities for pharmacists. I have continued to stay involved because of the networking opportunities, resources for pharmacists, and advocacy for the profession.

Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area 

Don't be afraid to get involved, start projects, and seek out new opportunities, especially after residency is over and you no longer have preceptors pushing you to do these things.

How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?

ASHP provides a network for pharmacy professionals across the country to connect, share resources, and collaborate to better improve patient care and the profession of pharmacy.

What is the value of ASHP for the profession?

ASHP provides a collective voice for pharmacy providers, which allows for more effective advocacy and advancement of the profession.
