Scott Knoer is the Chief Pharmacy Officer at the Cleveland Clinic where he leads the pharmacy enterprise which includes a $600 million dollar drug budget and 900 FTEs in 11 hospitals with clinics and research facilities in Ohio, Florida, Las Vegas, Toronto and Abu Dhabi, UAE. Dr. Knoer received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Creighton University and his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska. He completed a two year administrative residency and received his Master of Science in hospital pharmacy from the University of Kansas.

Dr. Knoer currently serves ASHP as the Chair of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers Advisory Group on Multi-Hospital Health-System Executives, and as Contributing Editor for Pharmacy Practice Management for the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacists where he coordinates the CPO Perspectives column. He previously served as Director-at-Large and then Chair of the Section of Pharmacy Practice Managers Executive Committee. He has served in the ASHP House of Delegates, as Chair of the Advisory Group on Leadership Development, as a member of ASHP’s Commission on Affiliate Relations, and on a number of ASHP task forces and specialty panels. He has also served in multiple capacities in local and state ASHP affiliates in Minnesota, Texas and Ohio. He was recognized as a Fellow of ASHP in 2012. Dr. Knoer has also served on the Pharmacy Council Executive Committee for the University Health‐System Consortium since 2004 and is currently Member-at-Large.

Dr. Knoer has published numerous articles and chapters on a variety of topics including the pharmacy enterprise, the pharmacy practice model, leadership development, pharmacy management, healthcare delivery and financing, building and leveraging key relationships, process improvement, benchmarking, and IV robotics. He is a frequent lecturer to local, state, national and international audiences in the United States, Canada, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Japan.

Dr. Knoer is passionate about improving public policy related to medication safety and population health. Through advocacy with professional associations, state boards of pharmacy and state and national legislatures, he has successfully contributed to both state and federal law changes that positively impact patient care.
