Practice Online Before Taking PTCB Exam

Katherine M. Bennett

To help candidates study for its certification exam, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) began offering an online practice test in November 1999 that matches the content of the actual exam. While the test will not predict whether a technician will pass the certification exam, PTCB said that the online version—expected to take one to three hours to complete—can be useful in preparing for the actual paper-and-pencil exam. After taking the practice test, technicians should work through tough questions with their pharmacist colleagues, according to PTCB. The board, which has certified more than 50,000 pharmacy technicians since 1995, will offer its next certification exam on March 25. The deadline for receipt of applications is Jan. 28.
