New CE Program Helps Identify Symptoms of Psychopathy in Nursing Home Patients

Katherine M. Bennett

Medications taken by nursing home residents often cause adverse reactions, including dementia, depression, delirium, hallucinations, and other forms of psychopathy. The new training program "A Guide for Better Monitoring—A Continuing Education Program for Consultant Pharmacists," sponsored by AstraZeneca, is designed to heighten awareness of the problem and help health care providers learn to identify and track potential problems.

The program, which consists of a video and a monograph, highlights the signs and symptoms of patients who may be having adverse reactions to antipsychotic medication. AstraZeneca manufactures an antipsychotic agent that is used to treat patients with Parkinson's disease.
