Promotions, New Hires Announced at ASHP

ASHP recently announced the appointment of William A. Zellmer, M.P.H., to the position of Deputy Executive Vice President. Zellmer, who was formerly Senior Vice President, will assist ASHP executive vice president and chief executive officer Henri R. Manasse, Jr., Ph.D., Sc.D., and oversee staff operations in government affairs, public relations, strategic and policy planning, and member and affiliate relations.

Dean Manke, M.S., formerly a vice president of purchasing and publisher relations with Login Brothers Book Company in Chicago assumed the position of vice president of marketing and sales on December 1. Manke will oversee marketing communications, marketing research, and strategic business development. 

Charles E. Myers, M.S., M.B.A., has been promoted to Vice President of Professional and Scientific Affairs. Myers will oversee the operation of the ASHP Accreditation Services, Educational Services, and Professional and Scientific Affairs divisions as well as the Center of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the Center on Pharmacy Practice Management. 

C. David Lorms, CAE has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of Member and Affiliate Relations. Lorms will oversee member relations, affiliate relations, and the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum. 

ASHP is the 30,000-member national professional association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term care facilities, home care, and other components of health care systems. ASHP believes that the mission of pharmacists is to help people make the best use of medications. Assisting pharmacists in fulfilling this mission is ASHP's primary objective. The Society has extensive publishing and educational programs designed to help members improve their delivery of pharmaceutical care, and it is the national accrediting organization for pharmacy residency and pharmacy technician training programs.
