ASHP Selects New Provost Intern

ASHP has selected Con Ann Ling, Pharm.D., as the eleventh George P. Provost Editorial Intern. She begins her six-month internship at ASHP headquarters on August 3. Ling received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond. She is a member of the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society and is a recipient of the 1996 Rho Chi Achievement Award.

The Provost Internship was created in 1987 in honor of George P. Provost, a former editor of the American Hospital Formulary Service and the American Journal of Hospital Pharmacy and the first Executive Vice President of the ASHP Research and Education Foundation. The objectives of the internship are to improve the quality of pharmaceutical literature, to train pharmacists for careers in pharmaceutical journalism, and to improve the writing and publishing skills of the intern. The internship is sponsored by the ASHP Research and Education Foundation.

ASHP is the 30,000-member national professional association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term care facilities, home care, and other components of health care systems. ASHP believes that the mission of pharmacists is to help people make the best use of medications. Assisting pharmacists in fulfilling this mission is ASHP's primary objective. The Society has extensive publishing and educational programs designed to help members improve their delivery of pharmaceutical care, and it is the national accrediting organization for pharmacy residency and pharmacy technician training programs.
