Nominees and Volunteers Wanted for ASHP Elective Offices, Councils, Committees

Do your part to foster a secure future for health-system pharmacy by nominating professionals for ASHP's elective offices—President-Elect, Board of Directors member, Chair of the House of Delegates, and Treasurer—or volunteering for appointment to ASHP's councils and committees.

Nominations for President-Elect, Board of Directors member, and Chair of the House of Delegates must be submitted to the ASHP Committee on Nominations, c/o ASHP Executive Office, by Feb. 1, 2001. Letters of recommendation or personal expressions of interest should be sent with a curriculum vitae. The Presidency of ASHP spans three years; during the first year, the person serves as the President-Elect and participates in about 47 days of meetings, not including travel time. During the second year, when known as the President, the person participates in about 80 days of meetings; during the third year, as Immediate Past President, the person participates in about 53 days of meetings. A member of the Board of Directors serves for three years and participates in about 30 days of meetings the first year and 28 days of meetings in the subsequent years, not including travel time. The Chair of the House of Delegates participates in about 35 days of meetings, not including travel time.

Nominations for Treasurer must be submitted by Jan. 2, 2001. The ASHP Treasurer chairs the Committee on Finance, oversees the conservation and investment of ASHP assets and funds, ensures that expenditures agree with priorities set by the Board, and informs the House of Delegates and Board about ASHP's financial strengths and needs. The Treasurer also serves on the Board of Directors for the ASHP Research and Education Foundation and is responsible for managing its assets and funds. Candidates should be familiar with the programs and priorities of ASHP, have an interest and expertise in financial management, and possess applicable organizational experience. The Treasurer participates in about 30 days of meetings each year, not including travel time. Letters of recommendation or personal expressions of interest should be sent with a curriculum vitae to the ASHP Committee on Nominations, c/o ASHP Executive Office.

Volunteers for appointment to ASHP's councils and committees should submit information summarizing experience, interests, and past involvement in ASHP, as well as two copies of a resume or curriculum vitae to ASHP President-Elect Steve Sheaffer, c/o ASHP, by Dec. 31, 2000.
