Phyne Pharmaceuticals Recalls Colchicine, Other Drugs

Kate Traynor

Injectable colchicine—prepared at a concentration of 5 mg/mL but labeled as containing 0.5 mg/mL—is one of a host of drugs recalled by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Phyne Pharmaceuticals Inc.

The Dec. 19 recall affects injectable products made in Rathdrum, Idaho, by Amram Inc., which manufactures drugs for Phyne. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the products under recall may not be sterile.

FDA noted that the recalled products may bear labels from Phyne, Amram, or both companies. Pharmacists should immediately cease dispensing the recalled items, and return them to Phyne.

The full recall notice and a complete list of affected products is available at the FDA Web site.
