Enzon Recalls Pegaspargase

Five lots of pegaspargase, manufactured by Enzon Inc. and sold as Oncaspar, are being recalled by the company because they contain more than the allowable level of enzymatic activity.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, Enzon is recalling the following lots of Oncaspar:

AE0114 and AE0115 (expiration date of May 1, 2003),

AH0120 (Aug. 1, 2003),

AK0129 (Nov. 1, 2003), and

AA0201 (Jan. 1, 2004).

Pegaspargase is used in combination with other drugs to treat patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
